£1 Polish Wednesday.. ish.

Hi guys!

As promised here is another £1PW post, just ignore the date today :P

This is another polish from Claire's Accessories, and was the first ever leather polish i purchased! I'm quite a big fan of textured polish, and ended up buying all of their collection. It's just so simple to pop on your nails, and really doesn't need any extras to bling it up!

This is three coats of the beige leather polish, and it's really easy to apply. Because it is such a light shade it did need three for full coverage, but the darker colours only need two. I think this is a great idea for a manicure for those in a professional job where bright nails aren't encouraged.. It's muted but still with a little something special. Plus you'll spend all day stroking your nails because the texture feels awesome!

What do you think, worth £1? Because this is old stock you might struggle to find any now but they have got leather polishes in their new style, with an added navy colour which is on my to buy list! I have got a polish from work to show you soon.. trust me when i say i actually squealed when i got it in delivery!

Bye for now! Becky x

£1 Polish Wednesday!

Hi there!

So today i bring you my usual £1 Polish Wednesday post.. only with two polishes! Since i forgot to post a £1PW last week i thought i'd show you two beautiful colours this week because im nice like that :P

So i present to you two gorgeous polishes, both from Claire's Accessories and both at the bargain price of one pound! This post is very picture heavy, mainly because i couldn't eliminate any photo's as the sparkles are just so pretty haha!

I used the dusky pink as a base and then topped it off with a holographic purple glitter top coat. The pink polish looks lovely on and has a matte finish, but is a little tricky when it comes to application. I found you had to paint fast, and in three quick sweeps. Forget fiddling, once it's on the nail that's it! It is worth it though, plus it dries super fast.
As for the purple glitter.. well what can i say. It is stunning. If i could marry a polish, this would be one of my.. uhh.. partner choices? Yeah im not sure where i was going with that. Anyway! I only had to apply one coat to achieve this amount of glitter coverage, but i have no doubt you could overload a lot more on with another coat. But less chat, more photos!

In direct sunlight:

Blurred to show off that pretty glitter:

And in natural light:

So there we are, a nice pretty manicure that only cost £2.. yippee!

Just before i wrap up the post i thought i'd mention that today's 33DC challenge post will be up tomorrow due to work getting in the way of doing my nails!

See you tomorrow, Becky x

£1 Polish Wednesday

It's me again!

This is my fourth post this week already and it's only Wednesday, what's going on?! Anyway here is the next £1 PW feature, which just so happens to be the polish i used for this 3D challenge mani.

Now i'm not usually a red person, i probably only have about 7 reds out of my 160 polish collection. That being said this is such a beautiful, deep shimmering red that i just had to have it! I brought this polish roughly a month ago but it's still available on the ELF website if you click here. They also currently have a 50% of everything promotion (if you spend £20 or more) meaning you could pick up a fair few full price polishes for just £10 after discount.. schweeet!

Back to the polish! It's called Cranberry and as i said before it's a really deep red, the photo's make it a little lighter than in real life. It has a slight gold shimmer to it which catches beautifully in the sunlight. The application was fine, it was opaque in two coats. The only issue i had with the polish was removing it, as it was a little stubborn to get off around my cuticles, but nothing a bit of patience and polish remover couldn't fix. I'd definitely recommend buying this little varnish, it's a perfect fall/winter shade!

So what do you think, will you be buying this? And more importantly do you prefer it on human hands or a 'dragons'..? :P

Bye for now! Becky x

£1 Polish Wednesday!

Hi there!

So as today is Wednesday i'll be bringing you a swatch and review of another £1 polish! Today is a polish called Sea by Sally Hansen which was used as the base for my 33DC Flowers mani. I found this in my local Poundland, right behind a load of old, gunky, separated polishes. I think i've mentioned before that it's always worth digging deep and checking all of the colours and brands that they have. For every twenty gross looking polishes there should be one pretty one!

This is a really light green polish, and has a very sheer coverage. In hindsight i really should have painted a white coat on my nails before using this.. but i didn't, and i highly regretted it! If i can, i'll try and get away with one coat of polish. Usually i'll settle on two. But this bad boy.. five coats. FIIIIIIVE!

Before you recoil in horror and vow never to buy this polish.. let me give you some positives. Firstly this drys really quickly, i managed five coats in the time it usually takes to do three. Secondly, well the colour is just gorgeous! It really brightened my day, especially as it was so dull outside that they constantly caught my eye. And thirdly, it smelled really good! I know that's an odd point to make and yeah i probably shouldn't be sniffing nail varnish.. But i wasn't hit with the usual smell, instead an almost floral smell. This is my first polish from Sally Hansen so i can't say if they all smell that way but it was definitely a treat for my ol' nosey!

Anyway on to the pics!

So what do you think? Definitely worth the pound.. but is it worth the effort of five coats? Well, at least it isn't a bank breaker!

£1 Polish Wednesday

Bonjour!

So today was supposed to be my chevron post for the 33 Day Challenge + a £1 Polish Wednesday post. However, sometimes things don't quite go to plan. I've had such a hectic day; well i use hectic a little lightly. Okaayyy, essentially i've spent all day playing with my insanely gorgeous one year old niece. There i said it, i'm a big fat challenge posting failure.

So unless i can get my bum off the sofa and whack out a chevron manicure, photograph said nails and then edit said photos and then well.. post them, all before midnight.. I'm afraid my chevron entry is just going to have to be a day late. HOWEVER. To post a £1 Polish Wednesday on a Thursday is just, well, unthinkable. To break the laws of a challenge and deny you a bargain polish with it's own little catchphrasey type thing in the same day might just send the Earth spinning in to a catastrophic melt down.. or something to that effect.

(You're damn right i made my own internet funny thing.. i'm so hip.)

Anyway, enough of the tom foolery! On with the bargain polish!
Today i bring to you a gorgeous purple multi tonal polish from Claire's Accessories. You can currently pick this beauty up for yes, just £1 at most Claire's stores. You may find that some places have sold out, and that's because all of their old polish has been reduced to make way for their swanky new stuff! I must admit, after my first coat i was definitely less than impressed. To put it bluntly it just looked dirty on my nails. But don't give up! Because apply that second coat and BOOM, you have stunningly sexy deep purple nails. The shine on these is just incredible. In some lights it can look blue, but that's okay because we all love a bit of blurple every now and again. For these photos i used three coats and sealed with Seche Vite.

Yeah.. I don't really know what that last photo is about. Anyway i think it's about time i wrap this shambolic post up with three things i've learnt today. Firstly, it's impossible to create a neat, unchipped manicure when babysitting a one year old. Secondly, purple is a bitch to photograph. And thirdly, never write a blog post on a sugar high.

So that's it for today, will post my 33DC chevron manicure as soon as i can!
Much love, Becky x

£1 Polish Wednesday

Hello!

So my first post tonight is another £1 Polish Wednesday feature! I am extremely happy with this little find, as i've been after a light bluey/grey polish for a while. This was purchased from my local Poundland and you should have seen the smile on my face when i found it! They had quite a few well known brands but a lot of the bottles had seen better days. Regardless i kept digging until i laid my hands upon this beauty..

What do you think? I'm obviously in love with the colour! Application was really easy and i built up a solid opaque colour using three coats. There is actually a really subtle electric blue shimmer in this polish, and i was a little disappointed when it didn't appear on the nail, only in the bottle. However fear not! When i applied a matte top coat to act as the base for my tribal nails there it was, in all its shimmering glory.

Stay tuned for the next 33DC post, today's theme is mexican!
Ciao for now, Becky x

£1 Polish Wednesdays

Hello again!
I know I'm only three posts in and I'm well aware that it will take some time before my blog becomes structured and I develop a comfortable way to write. I'm still thinking up ideas about how I'd like my blog to run in the future, what kind of posts I'd like to, even what kind of writing style I'll settle in to. Do I want to be formal, giving detailed reviews and swatches? Do I want to be laid back, writing the same way as I think? And if that is the case, how much personality can I inject before it becomes too much.. Is it okay to say 'lol'? If something is incredibly awesome can I *gasp* swear in excitement? And lastly, how much of myself do I want to include in this blog. Sharing little insights in to my personal life is okay, but too much and I might only have myself to blame if I develop stalkers down the line.

Anyway, the whole point of that little paragraph is that whilst I'm learning and growing in this vast interweb of blogs, I'd like to have a little bit of structure already. And so I introduce to you lovely people.. One pound polish Wednesdays! As I already confessed, I am a total bargain buyer. So a large variety of my polish collection has only cost me.. you guessed it, £1 per bottle.  So every Wednesday I'll be reviewing and swatching various £1 polishes, because I promise you can pick up some amazing bargains!

Today we start with a polish from Claire's Accessories. As I mentioned before all of their old stock has been reduced to £1 so I've probably picked up almost all of their colours. This polish looks slightly green in the bottle but comes out as a sky blue on the nail. It's slightly sheer but I managed a nice even finish with only two coats. The polish has gorgeous blue, purple and gold glitter and definitely has an indie look to it. I think it's a great example of how good your nails can look for just £1 :)

Well that's it for today, hope you're happy about £1 polish W'days :)
