Guess Who!

Hello there!

So uh, it's been a little while hasn't it? As I mentioned in my last post I've been extremely busy at work, stepping in as duty manager for the past month. This wouldn't have been quite so bad if we weren't in the middle of a shop change and a stock take.. but I've somehow made it through haha!

Obviously I haven't had any time for blogging, and I can honestly say i've painted my nails about 3 or 4 times over the past month. Yuck! It hasn't stopped me from buying polish however.. I've managed to accumulate around 20 new beautiful polishes for my collection which i'll share with you soon. Oh, and I might possibly have bought myself a brand spanking new bridge camera.. my bad :P

For now I've got a quick nail look to show you, hopefully I'll be back to full time blogging over the next couple of weeks!

For this look I used:

Claire's - White
Claire's - Epic Fail (Green)
Claire's - Fashion Blue
Claire's - Gel Top Coat
Black Sharpie for details

Let's just ignore that stubby little middle finger shall we? Suffered a rather nasty break and i'm in denial about how bad it looks ;)

Til next time, whenever that may be!

Happy Halloweeeeen!

Hi guys!

Just a quick post to say happy Halloween, hope everyone enjoys the day.. even if it's spent snuggled under a duvet watching horror films and pigging out on the sweets for the "trick or treaters". (lets face it, it just makes sense to buy the snacks you like just in case no one turns up!)

I created a simple manicure today as i didn't have the time for a full scale nail art look. *pouts* However i also have my pumpkins to show you!

To create this look i used:
Claire's Accessories - Black
ELF - Fairy Dust
Seche Vite - Top Coat
Barry M - White Nail Art Pen

This is just to show you how pretty the ELF - Fairy Dust is over a black base.. In day light the red and green glitter shows up amazingly!

Annnd now for the fun part.. my pumpkins! Last year i carved one for the first time and created a cookie monster, but this year i wanted to do something a little different. And so i bring to you.. Painted Despicable Me pumpkins! :)

And there's only one way i can end this post..

Cya tomorrow! Becky x

33 Day Challenge: Animals

Hi there!

So today's challenge is animals. I did have a vision in my head of doing something super cute based around pugs since they are, in my humble opinion, the greatest thing on this planet. Howeeeever.. I've had a cruddy day and my face somewhat actually resembles a pugs right now, in the sense that i couldn't have a bigger frown on if i tried.

So in order to replicate my mood on to my nails, and stick to the theme of course, there was only one solution. Grumpy Cat.

To create this manicure i used:
Claire's Accessories - Un-named Blue
W7 - Salt 'n' Pepper
Seche Vite - Top Coat
Barry M - Black Nail Art Pen
Various Acrylic Paints

Bring on the grumpiness!

I'm actually kind of pleased with how these turned out, and i must admit doing a fun manicure like this always cheers me up.. in a stressful this-has-to-be-perfect way. That's it for the challenges this week, so there's only one thing left to say..

"Grumpy cat, do you like my nails?"

Well you can't please everyone can you!

33 Day Challenge: Abstract

Hello again!

So today is another challenge, this theme was abstract. Despite being such a vague concept, i was a little stumped! I ended up googling abstract art which led me to a few black and white pieces that caught my eye. So i went with a simple B&W design, with a few splashes of colour. I used primary colours because when i think abstract, i think Mondrian!

To create this look i used:

Sinful Colors - Snow Me White
Barry M - Black Nail Pen
Claire's Accessories - Blue Neon
Claire's Accessories - Unnamed Red
Claire's Accessories - Unnamed Yellow
Seche Vite - Top Coat
Dotting Tools

I'll be naming the polishes i use for mani's like this in the future as i think it's a lot easier to read. You might also notice a few tweaks to the blog in upcoming weeks, as i'm new i'm learning as i go so i hope you don't mind! Anyway, it's time for the pics..

So there you go, another challenge completed! I thought i'd have a little more fun with my photos today so i took a few sky shots :)

Keep an eye out for today's £1PW coming in a little bit!

I Challenge You Not To Challenge..?

Hi!

'What's this?' I hear you ask. 'A post on a tuesday, that isn't a challenge?'

Why yes, you'd be right! I know the past couple of weeks have only been challenge posts because i've been swamped at work. So hopefully (but don't count on it too much haha) i'll be injecting a few more non 33DC manicures in to my blogging :)

Today i wore this cute little manicure which was based on a design i found on the internet a while back. There's lots of versions out there so this isn't my own idea at all, i just really liked it and wanted to try it out!

I used a nail hardener base from Claire's Accessories and a black shimmer polish from Claire's as well. The collar was drawn using a Barry M white nail art pen, and the gold buttons were drawn with a gel pen. And of course, sealed with my trusty Seche Vite.

Hope you liked it! See you tomorrow for the 33DC abstract manicure and £1 PW. Just to refresh your memory here's the list of challenges to come..

Bye for now, becky x

33 Day Challenge: Chinese

Dàjiā hǎo, Hello everyone!

So i'm getting better at posting these challenges on time! The past couple of weeks have been spent training up in my store to become a key holder, so needless to say i've been a pretty busy bee. However i had my interview today and i'm happy to say i passed! So i should hopefully have more time to do my nails from now on.. hooray!

Anyway less chat, more challenge! Today's theme was Chinese and i immediately knew i wanted to do cherry blossom nails. It's obviously not an original idea but they look so pretty and i'd yet to try them out so thought why not! To achieve this look i used a beige Claire's Accessories base (2 coats), a beige/gold shimmer polish; again from Claire's and Seche Vite to seal. For the branches i used Barry M Black Nail Art Pen and a red polish for the petals from, you guessed it, Claire's Accessories. (Can you tell i own pretty much every colour from my work lol?)

So here are the pics!

Tadaa! Hopefully you like them, and if you'd like to create them yourself then i've put together a little tutorial below!

That's it for today, hopefully will post tomorrow otherwise it'll be on Wednesday for the next 33DC post!

33 Day Challenge: A Pattern In Your Home

Hello there!

So today's challenge is to create a mani inspired by a pattern in your home. I thought this was a great idea.. until i realised there isn't a single pattern in my home. The walls are block colours, there isn't a single print on any curtains, sofa's.. even my bed sheet. So, as i was sat watching Homeland earlier and enjoying a cup of tea it hit me.. Let's do a design inspired by my Nightmare Before Christmas mug!

And so, well.. that's what i did.

I can't say i'm over the moon with this design but i do think it matches the mug pretty well! To do this i used a black Claire's Accessories base, then coated that with Sinful Colors - Nail Junkie. I sealed this with Seche Vite and then started sponging on a lime green Claire's polish. I used a Barry M nail art pen to freehand the designs.

Here's a couple of pics to show you how gorgeous Nail Junkie looks over black polish!

Well that's it for today, will hopefully post the ELF swatch on Sunday!

33 Day Challenge: 3D

Hola!

I'm going to start this post off with a warning: this is going to be picture heavy. This is probably the challenge i have been most excited about.. 3D. Ohh the places that my mind jumped when i saw this.. And where did i settle? 3D dragon nails of course.

Yes, i may have gone a little out there with this one, but i'm so mother fluffing excited to show you it! I'm hoping to swatch the two polishes used on the actual nails (or in this case, claws) to show you guys tomorrow. But for now, i give to you.. my attempt at dragon nails.

*drum roll please*

TAAA DAAAA! ..can you tell i'm excited?

To make the claws i used air drying fimo clay and sculpted them over some false nails. I fixed them on to my real nails with blue tac, as i didn't really want to keep these on for too long! I used a red leather polish from Claire's Accessories and then a cranberry polish by ELF for the claws. For my hand i just used acrylic paints and went mad! I think the way it dried and cracked looks awesome.. i'm a very happy bunny!

What do you think? Is this something you'd like to see more of in the future?

Now only a couple more pictures to go.. I wanted to prove my dragon nails were 'every day friendly' so i cuddled a teddy bear and drank a cup of tea.. just about anyway.

Oh and if you're wondering what it was like to get off, it wasn't actually that difficult. I did however look like a zombie half way through..

So there it is! My dragon claws :) Hope you enjoyed this post as much as i did! Will hopefully swatch the two nail varnishes used and post them in the next few days.
Cya! Becky x
