100 Facebook Fans Celebration Mani!

Hi there!

So today's mani is a cheesy little look dedicated to the fact i've reached 100 Facebook fans! I know this may not seem a lot, but considering how short a time i've been blogging i'm really happy! I'm under no illusions that this blog will blow up and be as big as some of the top nail bloggers out there.. But the fact i've been rambling on and sharing my nail photos with people who actually have an interest feels great. So to my Facebook fans and Bloglovin followers, thank you! I can only hope that if i continue to improve my site, my writing and of course practice painting nails like mad, that the numbers will continue to grow.

Want to see the look? I used my favourite glitter polish for this one!

For this look i used:
Miss Sporty - Pop Fiction
Sinful Colors - Hottie
Barry M - White and Black Nail Art Pen
Silver Gel Pen
Claire's Accessories - Gel Top Coat

Mmm just look at how pretty that polish is, and a bargain at only £2! My bottle has turned a tiny bit gloopy now but nothing a good ol' shake can't fix. Besides i could dip my hands in this stuff and it would still come out looking good!

Just in case you aren't following me on facebook just click this LINKY THINGYMAJIG.

So once again, thank you! Expect another if i ever hit 1000 ;)

Guess who's back, back again.

Hi there people!

So i'm finally back with some nail art for you after an unscheduled break from blogging. Before i jump to the photo's and tell you about polish used etc. i just want to talk a little bit about why i'm not posting so frequently. If this doesn't interest you then feel free to scroll down, i'll never know!

It was after reading this post written by Debbie from The Crumpet regarding 'blogger burnout' that i thought i'd take the opportunity to write about why i've been so absent lately. I know a lot of it has been to do with work, i've been doing 8 days on and 1 day off at the moment. It's tiring and it doesn't leave a lot of time and motivation for doing my nails. Not to mention they are all insanely short and breaking all the time due to the frequent use of hand sanitizer (I pierce ears and have to apply it twice for each piercing, bad times).

But also mentioned is that a lot of women in the nail art (or any creative) community suffer with depression. This can mean a lot of things to different people, and everyone is affected by it in different ways. I'd probably say it started for me when i was a young teenager, and unfortunately i do still get bouts of it now. Sometimes it can just be a day or two of feeling a little low, and sometimes i can spend weeks being withdrawn and honestly just a little numb. It's times like this when all creativity and inspiration goes away completely, and it takes all the motivation in the world just to get out of bed.

Unfortunately recently i've felt this way. I'm highly critical of everything i do, and even with my nails i judge myself far too fiercely. I started this as a new creative hobby that i found fun and interesting. It has infact replaced another hobby of mine which was cake decorating, as i'm unable to do it after moving back home. So that's what i'd like to focus on, getting some fun and life back in to my nail art and blog. My posts might still be a little all over the place, but that's better to me than withdrawing completely!

I'm sure that this is something i'll talk about in the future but for now i'm going to show you the nail art i wore yesterday for work as they were nice and fun! We decided to dress up in 80's gear as our store recently got all of our neon tutu's and legwarmers back in :)

To create this look i used:
Sinful Colors - Black on Black
Claire's Accessories - Confetti
Chit Chat - Purple Glitter
Sinful Colors - 24/7
Seche Vite - Top Coat
Dotting tool & Striping tape

Oooh and i forgot to mention i got a new camera for christmas, this is my first attempt with it! Still got some fine tuning to do but i've noticed a big difference in quality already :)

Want a close up of Confetti? Course you do! It's a newbie at Claire's Accessories and only costs £3, you're welcome ;)

And uh, just for entertainment purposes.. This is me, in 80's glory. Again, you're welcome.

If anyone has any questions or would like to talk about anything i mentioned today then feel free to drop me a comment or add me on facebook. Oh and as a side note if you'd like to check out the cakes i used to make i have a facebook page for that as well called Bubba's Bakery.

Hope this post didn't bore you or scare you all off! Much love to everyone who reads this,

12 DOC Advent Challenge: Winter Woolies

Hi there!

So first off i'd like to apologise for posting this challenge two days late.. i have been one heck of a poorly blogger! I hate taking sick days with a passion, but i've had the weekend off work and i've literally spent it in bed :(

Despite that i've managed to claw together this post, and will show you today's planned post, tomorrow.. hope that's ok with you guys :)

The challenge is Winter Woolies, and i've got a special manicure to show you! Now i'm a very simple person, it doesn't take much to make me get all nerdy and excited. So when i saw the iddy biddy hats that have been knitted for Innocent Smoothie bottles it's safe to say i freaked the hell out. They're so cute and tiny! And the fact it's all for a great cause just tops it off! So if you haven't figured it out, that's what today's post is themed on :)

If you haven't heard about The Innocent Big Knit then click the piccy below to find out more! It's all been put together to help the older generation through the winter, with 25p from each bottle being donated to AgeUK.

On to the manicure! For this look i used:

Sinful Colors - Easy Going (base colour)
Nails Inc - Pink
Claire's Accessories - Green
Miss Sporty - Pink
Barry M - Bubblegum Feather Effect
MUA - Plum Noir
MUA - Frozen Yoghurt
Claire's Accessories - Purple
Barry M - Black & White Nail Art Pens

Think this entire idea deserves a thumbs up!

Oh i'm so cheesy! Anywho, i'm going to end this post with a few more adorable pictures of knitted hats, because who could get bored of looking at them!? Oh, and head over to my Facebook page to check out the results of my giveaway!

Look at the teeeeeny tiny christmas pudding! *dies*

That's it for today, will be back tomorrow!

12 DOC Advent Challenge: Candy Mania!

Hi people!
Apologies that this post is a day late, got home from work yesterday and put my head on my pillow for two seconds and.. zzzzzzzzzz. I was a very tired blogger indeed. But! Hopefully you wont mind the wait, as i think this look is one of my favourites so far :)

So today's (or yesterdays) challenge was to create a look based on candy canes! I ended up with a really bright, fun and cartoony manicure. It went down really well at work, i received loads of comments! I absolutely love it when people ask if my nails were done professionally and where i went to get them done, getting to say 'Oh no, i did these myself' always makes me feel good, even if it does seem trivial to some people. In fact that's why i called my blog Pause For Polish, because if someone stops just to look at your nails you know you've done a good job :)

Anyway, less talk, more nails!

To create this look i used:
Rimmel London - Mind The Gap Victoria
Sinful Colors - Hottie
Nails Inc - Un named Red (t'was a freebie!)
Barry M - White Nail Art Pen
Barry M - Black Nail Art Pen
Seche Vite - Top Coat

So what do you think? Certainly look festive don't they! Hottie by Sinful colors is one of my favourite glitter polishes, it's so gorgeous! These are really straight forward but i'd be happy to make a tutorial if anyone wants one :)

If you want to see all of the challenge posts together (there's only two so far) then pop over to my Facebook page and there's an album just for this 12 DOC challenge. Don't forget you can also enter my giveaway which ends on the 7th! Click the photo below to be taken to the page to enter :)

That's it for today, the next challenge should be up tomorrow!

Follow Me.. To The Dark Side

Actually despite the title, you can just follow me on Facebook if you prefer! Whenever I post on here i'll be providing a link on my Facebook page. I'll also be updating with photos from my Instagram which won't be put up here as I'd like to keep the blog a little more uniform. I might even put little sneak previews of upcoming mani's or nail swatches.. So if you're eager little beavers then it just makes sense to hit like :P

You can find me on Facebook HERE!

Or alternatively just click on one of the photos below and it will take you to the album they're in on Facebook. These are just a few examples of my pre-blog mani's taken on Instagram!

Will hopefully be putting up my first swatching post for Sinful Colors tomorrow so keep an eye out for that! And if you're super lucky I might even get my bum in to gear and post today's manicure for you.. aren't I nice :P

Ciao for now! Becky x
