On Wednesdays We Wear Pink..

So if you didn't already know, today is the 10th Anniversary of Mean Girls.. potentially the most quoted film by women of all time.

To celebrate this, nail bloggers are creating a pink mani to go along with the quote 'On Wednesdays we wear pink'. What's not to like? Pink Polish + Mean Girls inspired = Sheer Awesomeness.

To start with I used Sinful Colors - 24/7 as a base. I've included a couple of photos just to show off how incredibly bright this polish is, it's my favourite neon! I applied two coats with a Claire's - Gel Top Coat.

And then, just because I couldn't leave it alone.. I did some nail art, burn book style :P

I used Barry M nail art pens and some sharpies to create the nail art, and again sealed it with a Gel Top Coat. Hope you like it! Oh, and if you don't own 24/7, then you have to buy it.. I promise you wont be disappointed, plus it's only £2!

And last but not least, I'm ending this post in the best way possible..
Enjoy!

Claire's Accessories Neon | Plaid Nail Art

So today's look is a bit more 'in your face' than my last post.. bright green neon plaid to be precise!
I loved how easy it was to create so I went all out this time and actually painted every nail ;)

I used two green neon polishes from Claire's Accessories (bit of a theme recently huh?) and my trusty Barry M nail art pens, all topped off with Seche Vite. I did create a step by step, but I thought it was just too simple. But if you want to see just let me know and i'll post it for you guys!

So which do you prefer.. Full on neon plaid or my last red plaid manicure? I'm personally loving neon right now :)

Claire's Accessories | New Splatter Polish Swatches

I don't know what's happened recently, but apparently i've started to enjoy swatching polish? Who woulda thunk it! Today i've got three gorgeous new splatter polishes from Claire's Accessories to share with you.

I wont lie, these were a bit of a pain in the bum to swatch but I got there in the end. Let's have a look at some photos shall we? Please note all three swatches are shown over a base colour.

First up is a gorgeous neon pink colour called Sprinkles. It's packed with small green & white matte glitter, plus slightly larger blue, green & yellow matte hex glitter. The formula is a little sheer, shown here is just one coat over a Claire's Neon Pink polish. The name is perfect for the polish, it's so fun! I must admit I only bought this to go with the others but i'm glad that I did. I found this had the least amount of glitter on the brush, but nothing a little digging can't fix.

Next up is a beautiful lilac colour called Jazz. It is jam packed with glitter! There's small pink, blue & white matte glitter, larger pink, blue & yellow glitter plus big round blue glitter. Also when on the nail I noticed a really subtle blue splatter, but it's tiny so my camera struggled to pick it up. Again the formula is a little sheer, i've layered one coat over Model's Own Utopia. But my gosh, it's like the glitter is magnetized to the brush! I didn't even have the fish for the round blue glitter!

Lastly we have a perfect summery neon coral colour called Hundreds and Thousands. This has really small red & yellow glitter though out, with slightly bigger blue & white glitter, plus a few big white hex glitter. This formula is thicker than the other two, and can actually easily be used without a base colour. For this though I used one coat over a Claire's Neon Coral polish. This is so bright and pretty, definitely one i'll be wearing a lot once the suns out! (So uh, probably not often..)

Over all I'm really impressed with these three! The glitter pay off is incredible, and I never thought such a random mix of colours could look so good! If I had to suggest just one, it would be Hundreds and Thousands, it just really stands out to me. I did find it a little tricky to get an even coverage when using the polish on their own, but layering over a base colour really helps. All swatches were finished off with Claire's Gel Top Coat. So do you think you'll be buying any, and if so what colour? Let me know in the comments below. Personally I hope they bring out some more soon, a white/cream based polish would look soo pretty!

Claire's Accessories | Green Neon Nail Art

Due to a lot of polish being marked down to £1 at work, we've been getting a LOT of swanky new styles coming in to take their place over the past week. As all cosmetics are currently on a 3 for 2 offer, I have of course been stocking up. I've prepared two Markdown posts to show you all, with 12 polishes in total. I've still got a couple left to swatch so they should hopefully be posted in the next couple of days. I've also been buying the newbies, which i'll be showing off afterwards! I purely bought such a large amount to show them all off to you, the things I do for the sake of my blog huh? :P

Anyway! Here's a simple nail art manicure showing you a sneaky peak at two new Neon polishes. Despite how easy and quick this was I'm pretty happy with it! Really enjoying wearing bright colours at the moment :)

For this look I used:
Claire's Accessories - White Neon Pale Green
Claire's Accessories - Neon Pinball
Barry M - White Nail Art Pen
Claire's Accessories - Gel Top Coat

Bright huh? I've got a few of the neon collection so I won't go in to detail about the polish now, i'll save it til later on. I'm enjoying posting a lot again, I think the influx of amazing polish at work has kicked my bum back in to gear! Want a sneaky peak at some newbies? Course you do ;)

Excited much? :) Will be posting the £1 swatches soon and then these beauties so keep an eye out!

Claire's Accessories Neon Purple Nail Art!

I think by now you all know how much I love using my nifty staff discount to pick up nail polish from work. Today was my last shift after 11 in a row, so i thought that deserved a little treat for myself! We got a new Neon polish in yesterday so i picked it up ready for some nail art for today. It's ultimately the perfect Claire's Accessories purple colour, and looks a million times yummier on your nails!

I went for a gradient and accidentally went further on the blue than purple, so I haven't exactly done a great job of showing off the polish haha! But don't worry, i'm working on a big ol' Claire's swatch post.. so stay tuned for that bad boy :P

For this look I used:
Claire's Accessories - Neon Purple
Sinful Colours - Why Not
Barry M - Black & White Nail Art Pens
Claire's Accessories - Gel Top Coat

Ohh, and look what we had today.. SUN! Was certainly happy to step outside and walk to work in glorious sunshine, even if it was still a little on the cold side. I'll ignore the fact it started raining half an hour later ;)

If you're interested Claire's have a range of about 8 Neon Polish colours at £3 for a bottle. Darker colours can be a one coater (a thick coat) and the lighter colours (yellow and orange) are best painted over a white.

Til next time! Becky x

Love Graffiti Neon Nail Art! #RINAILART

Hi there!

So a couple of weeks ago I vowed to myself that I wouldn't be doing any Valentines Day nail art. Call me a grumpy blogger, but I haven't exactly been a fan of Cupid recently.

Howeveeer. Today I decided to do my own 'Love' inspired manicure. It's not soppy, but at the same time it isn't Anti-Valentines either. It's messy, and chaotic. Just like love. And you know what? These turned out to be my favourite nails i've done to date!

Want to see? Good, because I might just spam you with photos!

For this look I used:
Sinful Colors - Snow Me White
Sinful Colors - 24/7 (Neon Pink, this beauty is BRIGHT)
Claire's Accessories - Lilac
Sinful Colors - Cinderella
Mua - Bold Blue
Miss Sporty - Clubbing Colors Purple
Claire's Accessories - Gel Top Coat (Genuinely my new favourite TC)
Barry M - Black & White Nail Art Pens

Okay, enough photos now. I'm really pleased with how these turned out. They probably only took about an hour if you take out the inbetweeny drying part *yawn*

Despite being a Valentines Scrooge this year (is that even a thing?) i'd love to see your mani's! Feel free to leave links below and if there's any take really catch my eye i'll share on my Facebook page :)

See you soon,
Becky x

Update: Entered these in to the River Island Nail Art Competition.. wish me luck! :)

Guess who's back, back again.

Hi there people!

So i'm finally back with some nail art for you after an unscheduled break from blogging. Before i jump to the photo's and tell you about polish used etc. i just want to talk a little bit about why i'm not posting so frequently. If this doesn't interest you then feel free to scroll down, i'll never know!

It was after reading this post written by Debbie from The Crumpet regarding 'blogger burnout' that i thought i'd take the opportunity to write about why i've been so absent lately. I know a lot of it has been to do with work, i've been doing 8 days on and 1 day off at the moment. It's tiring and it doesn't leave a lot of time and motivation for doing my nails. Not to mention they are all insanely short and breaking all the time due to the frequent use of hand sanitizer (I pierce ears and have to apply it twice for each piercing, bad times).

But also mentioned is that a lot of women in the nail art (or any creative) community suffer with depression. This can mean a lot of things to different people, and everyone is affected by it in different ways. I'd probably say it started for me when i was a young teenager, and unfortunately i do still get bouts of it now. Sometimes it can just be a day or two of feeling a little low, and sometimes i can spend weeks being withdrawn and honestly just a little numb. It's times like this when all creativity and inspiration goes away completely, and it takes all the motivation in the world just to get out of bed.

Unfortunately recently i've felt this way. I'm highly critical of everything i do, and even with my nails i judge myself far too fiercely. I started this as a new creative hobby that i found fun and interesting. It has infact replaced another hobby of mine which was cake decorating, as i'm unable to do it after moving back home. So that's what i'd like to focus on, getting some fun and life back in to my nail art and blog. My posts might still be a little all over the place, but that's better to me than withdrawing completely!

I'm sure that this is something i'll talk about in the future but for now i'm going to show you the nail art i wore yesterday for work as they were nice and fun! We decided to dress up in 80's gear as our store recently got all of our neon tutu's and legwarmers back in :)

To create this look i used:
Sinful Colors - Black on Black
Claire's Accessories - Confetti
Chit Chat - Purple Glitter
Sinful Colors - 24/7
Seche Vite - Top Coat
Dotting tool & Striping tape

Oooh and i forgot to mention i got a new camera for christmas, this is my first attempt with it! Still got some fine tuning to do but i've noticed a big difference in quality already :)

Want a close up of Confetti? Course you do! It's a newbie at Claire's Accessories and only costs £3, you're welcome ;)

And uh, just for entertainment purposes.. This is me, in 80's glory. Again, you're welcome.

If anyone has any questions or would like to talk about anything i mentioned today then feel free to drop me a comment or add me on facebook. Oh and as a side note if you'd like to check out the cakes i used to make i have a facebook page for that as well called Bubba's Bakery.

Hope this post didn't bore you or scare you all off! Much love to everyone who reads this,
Becky x
